Childhood friends Lena, Tibby, Bridget and Carmen are spending their first summer ever apart. Demure Lena (Alexis Bledel) is off to visit family in Italy. Boy-crazy Bridget (Blake Lively) will be doing drills at soccer camp in Mexico. Solid as a rock Carmen (America Ferrera) is down to South Carolina to visit her dad and somber would-be-documentarian Tibby (Amber Tamblyn) is stuck at home, working her life away in the town's local drugstore. In search of a way to stay connected over the summer, the girls stumble across a pair of thrift-store jeans that miraculously fit them all. They vow to share the jeans and their lives as they learn about broken hearts, death and true love. Not even thousands of miles can keep these best friends apart.
