Quinn Harris (Harrison Ford) hates tourists. Unfortunately as a pilot who likes alcohol as much as he likes flying and who lives in the paradisiacal South Pacific he doesn’t have much choice. When Frank Martin (David Schwimmer) invites his workaholic girlfriend Robin Monroe (Anne Heche) on a seven day holiday on a South Pacific island they hire Quinn and his dilapidated plane for the last leg of the trip to Macatea. Quinn and Robin take an instant dislike to one another and are both only too glad when the flight ends. Shortly after landing, Frank proposes to Robin and she accepts. But when her fashion magazine employer (Allison Janney) needs her to drop everything and dash over to Tahiti for one night, Robin leaves Frank at the hotel and hires the only available pilot, tourist-hating Quinn. An unexpected storm forces the plane down on a deserted island where the two not only have to survive the ravages of nature; they also have to avoid the pirates whose dastardly deeds they accidentally witnessed. In the meantime, worried Frank is kept busy back on Macatea by Robin’s best friend Angelica (Jacqueline Obradors).
