Inventing the Abbotts is the tale of two brothers in the 1950’s, Jacey (Billy Crudup) and Doug (Joaquin Phoenix) who have grown up in a rough part of their town. They meet and interact with three affluent girls whose father, Lloyd Abbott is local prestigious and famous. The boys discover that while they are brothers they have little in common and that their primary means of bonding with each other is the relationships that they share with the Abbott girls. This drama portrays the ways in which even close family members are distinct, but how common experience and love can bring them together and forge a worthwhile, lasting relationship.
