“The Million Dollar Hotel” starts with the death of a billionaire’s son Izzy Goldkiss (Tim Roth) in a dilapidated hotel in skid row. An FBI Agent Skinner (Mel Gibson) is sent down to investigate the murder. He’s not well received at first but in time learns it’s the economic and social gap that keeps the people at bay from him. Through meeting lots of different people in various states of life, Skinner finds Tom-Tom (Jeremy Davies) a down and out young lad who seems to be at the center of his investigation. Tom-Tom is the local dunce and has the trust of everyone in the hotel, making him a perfect center for information. However Agent Skinner only has a few days to make heads way of this case before the tenants find a way to sell off Izzy’s fabled “Tar Paintings”.
