Winifred “Winnie” Foster (Alexis Bledel) is a teenage girl in upstate New York at the turn of the century. One day, she goes for a walk in the forest on her property and runs into, and instantly likes, Jesse Tuck (Jonathan Jackson). Jesse and his family live in the woods. Jesse’s brother, Miles Tuck (Scott Bairstow), sees the two together and kidnaps Winnie, taking her to the Tuck home. The Tucks are a nice family that seem to be removed from society. Winnie, confused as to why they are keeping her there, tries to discover their family secret. The mother, Mae Tuck (Sissy Spacek), tells Winnie that they drank from a magic spring and became immortals. Although Jesse appears to be 17, he is actually over a hundred years old. Once she gains her freedom, she must protect the Tuck secret and decide if she will join Jesse in his immortal life.
