When Donald Phelps dies and leaves the Cleveland Indians to trophy wife Rachel (Margaret Whitton), she hatches a plan to subvert the team's contract with the city so she can sell the team and move to sunny Florida. The deliberately sub-standard team she puts together includes has-been Jake Taylor (Tom Berenger), never-was Rick 'Wild Thing' Vaughn (Charlie Sheen), wanna-be Willie Mays Hayes (Wesley Snipes), and prima-donna Roger Dorn (Corben Bernsen). Led by down-and-out manager Lou Brown (James Gammon) the team is so bad that Rachel initially succeeds in driving away fans and bringing attendance down so low that she can break her contract with the city. Until the team gets wind of her plan and starts to work together...
