Hogan (Clint Eastwood) is on his way to gather information regarding a French fort in Mexico during the Revolution. Along the way, he rescues a nun, Sara (Shirley MacLaine), from some bad guys. He agrees to take Sara along with him when she offers to give him valuable information about the fort. The more time the two spend together, the more Hogan is surprised by Sara’s unorthodox ways. The French are chasing Sara, so Hogan continually has to protect her. When he begins to question why Sara is being pursued, he suspects that there is more her that she appears.
