Can a woman living a fast-paced corporate life be a positive mother figure to her orphaned nieces and nephew? That is what Helen Harris (Kate Hudson) must decide. After her older sister and brother-in-law die in a car accident, Helen is named guardian of their three children. After getting over the shock that her other sister, perfect mom Jenny (Joan Cusack), was not named guardian, Helen accepts the responsibility and packs the kids off to her life in the city. Can Helen handle making the sacrifices necessary to raising three children? She finds support in Pastor Dan Parker (John Corbett) the young and handsome headmaster of the children's new school. It may not be what she planned, but could this ready-made family life be exactly what Helen needed?
