Robert Clayton Dean (Will Smith) is a lawyer in Washington who finds himself the target of the NSA after learning too much about a recent murder. He tries to run, but how do you hide from a government agency that has the knowledge and technology to track anyone on earth? He finds and befriends Edward 'Brill' Lyle (Gene Hackman), a man that has hid successfully from the NSA for years. Brill may be able to help Robert, but only if they can work together to figure out what is going on, and avoid the spy catchers at the same time.
