A zebra is lost from the circus and found by a horse trainer (Nolan Walsh). He takes the foal home and his daughter (Channing) names him: Stripes. Stripes grows up with other farmyard animals and dreams of one day running with the thoroughbreds he can see from the fence at the edge of the farm. With the help of Tucker, a Shetland pony, they start training for a big race. Tucker had previously helped coach champion racehorses and believes that Stripes has what it takes to be a winner. Channing similarly wants to be a jockey and ends up being the jockey on Stripes. It is a long and hard battle to see if Stripes will be able to make the time and be able to handle distractions during a real race.
