Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events is a fantastical movie based on a children's fiction series written under the pen name Lemony Snicket. The movie stars Jim Carrey as Count Olaf the 'closest relative' of a group of children orphaned after the tragic death of their parents. The children stand to inherit an immense fortune and Count Olaf wants to take care of them to ensure his part of the fortune. The children have other plans, however, and they embark on a journey where they use their luck and odd abilities to get away from Olaf. The movie stars several other big names in smaller roles, namely Meryl Streep, Billy Connolly and Jude Law. In the end the children must find a way to fend for themself in a world that is a strange cross between reality and fantasy.
