What a girl wants is a comedy about a girl named Daphne (Amanda Nynes) who at 17 leaves her home in America to travel to England to develop a relationship with her father. She was raised by her mother and is surprised to discover her father (Colin Firth) running for a political office. She has to over come many obstacles including some run ins with a future step mother and step sister who definitely come off as gold diggers / social climbers. Her father is quite surprised when Daphne introduces herself as his daughter. He must choose between an open public relationship with his daughter at the cost of risking his political career. Daphne teaches him and others to have a little fun and not take life so serious.
