This is the inspiring story about the triumph of young Francis Ouimet (Shia LaBeouf) who dares to enter a professional level golf competition only to amaze everybody with his talent. Being a person coming from the middle class of society, he dares to dream of victory and from this desire comes a passionate display of feelings, strength and determination. Because nobody believes in his ability to win he is being laughed at first, but when he starts to win match after match, his soon to be opponents become envious and even try to intimidate him during the competition. All these maneuvers are eventually unable to stop Francis from winning the competition, and in the end he even manages to beat two of the best golf players in the world.
